WA State Search & Rescue Conference 2013 | May 6 – 12, 2013

We are proud to announce that Kittitas County Sheriff Gene Dana and Kittitas County Search and Rescue are hosting the 2013 Washington State Search and Rescue Training Conference. The Conference is scheduled for May 6th through May 12th, 2013 at the Kittitas Valley Event Center.

There will be many exciting training sessions, excellent facilities and accommodations, and for the first time ever we will be hosting a Mass Casualty Incident Drill specifically geared towards a Search and Rescue type incident and involving the Kittitas Valley Fire and Rescue High Angle Rescue Team. The drill will be held on Sunday, May 12, 2013 from 7:30 AM until 11 AM.

**CONFERENCE UPDATE 5/2/13  2 PM**

The Awards Banquet (May11th starting @ 6 PM) venue has changed! While still located on the Central Washington University campus, the Awards Banquet will now be held in the Ballroom at the Student Union & Recreation Center (SURC). The address is 1007 N Chestnut St., Ellensburg, WA 98926.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience of changing locations; however, we were recently able to obtain this wonderful venue and believe that you are really going to like the Ballroom at CWU. Maps and directions will be available in the Registration area. Please look for our staff wearing the green shirts if you need help. Enjoy!!

Check out the link “Plan Your Stay” for exciting things for you and your family to do around Kittitas County while you are here for the Conference!

*** K-9 and Equine Teams *** Please note: Dog handlers need to bring the dog’s emergency worker card or a statement from their Sheriff’s Office or DEM to gain entry into the General Conference grounds and/or participant in classes. (Pets are allowed in the camping/parking areas).

K-9 and Equine UPDATE: Dogs need to have an emergency worker card if they are a Washington State SAR dog.  Out of state they need a letter from the agency they work for stating that the dog/horse is a SAR dog/horse. This is to keep pets out of the classrooms.  Since horses have not and will not be allowed in the classrooms this does not apply to them (if the horse owner would like to bring the emergency worker card that would be great). If the dog or horse is in training then we will use the handler’s emergency worker card.

Vaccination records for dogs or horses are not necessary.
